Meet the Vendors: Rhylan Lang

Posted by Allison - 04/05/12 at 03:05 am

We are excited to showcase Rhylan Lang as part of our vendor line-up for the 2012 Lovestruck Event! Owner, Tracy Ponec, shares the details…

Rhylan Lang is Omaha’s newest bridal salon, and the only designer bridal salon that only focuses on brides. We are excited to treat Nebraska brides to our spacious bridal suites, professional stylists and of course our beautiful gowns, from designers like Monique Lhuillier and Badgley Mischka! We are committed to making the experience of selecting your gown as amazing as the gown itself. When you step into our modern salon in Regency Court you won’t be disappointed!

What inspired you to work in the wedding industry?

I feel like the wedding industry chose me! During college, I worked doing wedding gown alterations. What I thought was a way to help me pay my way through college, ended up opening a lot of doors for me. After brief stays in New York City and Kansas City, I decided I really wanted to live in Omaha with all my wonderful family and friends. I tried a desk job, and it just wasn’t something I could be happy doing. So, like so many small business owners out there, I mustered up enough courage to chase what I knew would make me happy, opening a bridal salon. One of my bridal mentors once said to me, “You were born to do this,” and he was right! I love every aspect of helping women find the perfect wedding gown!

What are your favorite and least favorite wedding trends?

Most trends can be beautiful when they are done well. So, just because someone else doesn’t like an aspect of your wedding, doesn’t mean you need to change it! Execute it beautifully and you might even change their mind. I am going to make my favorite and least favorite the same trend, DIY. This is why: I love a DIY trend when it is limited to a few personal touches, but it seems that brides are starting to feel they need to DIY so many aspects of their weddings that it just stresses them out. My advice would be to pick a personal touch or two that you can do really well, and turn over larger project ideas to your wedding professionals. Then you can enjoy your planning process!

What makes your business unique?

The gowns, the environment, the experience, all of it! Rhylan Lang isn’t another store where you would say, “it is good for Nebraska.” It definitely isn’t the kind of bridal shopping experience you could have anywhere else in the state, but it is unique beyond the Nebraska market. I will let you know when we have our first Kansas City bride! (Wink)

What inspires you?

Women inspire me. I love to hear their love stories and their life stories. I love to see the emotion, whether it is expressed through excitement, tears or even anxiety, as they picture themselves as a bride for the first time. A wedding is a symbol of a new beginning, and what is more inspiring than that?

What is your favorite love story?

Believe it or not, I’m not into fairy tales. I like a real love story, the kind where they have a few bumps in the road and stick together because that is what you do when you love someone. A public, real couple that I love is Giuliana and Bill Rancic. The way they support eachother through life is something everyone in a relationship can learn from.

What is your best advice for a newly engaged couple?

You are probably going to go through about every human emotion possible in the next several months. Try your best to focus on the good ones! My husband told me during my bridal meltdowns that the most important thing about our wedding can never go wrong. No matter what, by the end of the day, we will be married. It’s true. Something isn’t going to go the way you planned, but even if it isn’t okay with you, let it go, at least for the day. You don’t want to spend your wedding day focusing on things the stress you out, and that you can’t redo. To avoid as much of this as possible, choose wedding vendors you trust will do a great job and that you can rely on!

What are you looking forward to most about The Lovestruck Event?

Meeting couples in a fun and relaxed environment, and learning what the best wedding professionals in Omaha are up to!
