The Lovestruck Event Recap: Part I
30th October 2012 by admin 3 CommentsThe Lovestruck Event was a great success, and we have so many wonderful people to thank. I wanted to first thank our attendees for believing in this new bridal event format. We received a lot of wonderful feedback, so we’ve already begun to plan the next event (stay tuned for future event announcements!!)
A huge thank you to our vendors for helping us transform Bancroft Street Market into a wedding inspiration wonderland. I am so honored to know and work with all of you.
Brighten and The Mullers took so many awesome photos from the event, so I decided to share them in multiple posts throughout the day!

What inspired you to work in the wedding industry?
With technology we can spend hours of researching new trends and finding ways to make the wedding experience bigger and better. But what really stops us in our tracks is hearing the personal stories of our brides. The hair and makeup experts at Kontempo. take the time to get to know the bride on a deeper level. From the style of her dress to the flowers in her bouquet we use all these details of what the bride envisions to create one cohesive piece. What is your favorite and least favorite wedding trends?
At Kontempo. we love everything relating to weddings. We believe each bride brings their own trends into our salon for their special day. Whether it’s a small, intimate ceremony for 20 or a themed wedding including 14 bridesmaids, Kontempo. knows exactly what suggestions to make in order to complete the perfect day. Seeing new trends and twists on old ones are always fun for us to experience. We love trends from all across the board and believe each bride can give their own spin on a look. With Kontempo. always wanting to provide a unique, tailored experience, it’s no surprise we love the trend of the bridesmaid wearing a style of dress that fits their beautiful body type and style. We can complete that perfect look with any hairstyle or makeup. It’s tricky for us to pick a least favorite trend, we believe in working with the bride and bridal party to fit everyone’s individuality and uniqueness. What makes your business unique?
The environment and experience Kontempo. provides to each bride and her party is what makes us stand out. We love being a part of the big day and we want you to start your wedding experience from the moment you walk through our door not the moment you walk down the aisle. With a warm and inviting atmosphere you will instantly feel at ease knowing you’ll receive nothing but beautiful hair and makeup with a personal attention to every detail. What is your favorite love story?
There are so many timeless love stories that we could list off, such as The Notebook, Aladdin, and An Affair to Remember, well you know them all. The love stories that truly inspire us are the stories that Hollywood has yet to capture. It’s the couple who’s getting their engagement photos taken downtown or the look of love between two people who share a life of 50 years together. Those stories are what gives Kontempo. the understanding of what exactly a bride wishes for on her special day. What is your best advice for a newly engaged couple?
Take a breath, relax, Kontempo. will ease all your hair and make-up worries. Enjoy each other and the moment! What are you looking forward to most about The Lovestruck Event?
We can not wait to see new faces and hear new love stories. We’re also excited to meet new vendors for potential future collaboration. The Lovestruck Event Lookbook: Sneak Peek

Meet the Sponsors: Borsheims

Meet Adrienne Fay, the Director of Marketing & Advertising for Borsheims.
What inspired you to work in the wedding industry?
The product! It is fun to see the runway trends filter their way to our business as well as be a part of the special moments of our customers lives. Everyone is happy who comes to Borsheims, rarely are they there because they are not celebrating something. What are your favorite and least favorite wedding trends?
One of my favorite trends over the past 10 years is seeing the increasing personalization of weddings. Long gone are the days where the daughter had mom’s interpretation of what a wedding should be. Now weddings are a statement about the couple’s life, interests, and special memories. My least favorite trend is the increasing expense of a wedding. Celebrations can be magical and not have to break the bank. It must be my financial background that makes me cringe when I hear how expenses some weddings are! (Blake Lively and your $3000 cake, I’m looking at you.)What makes your business unique?
There is only one Borsheims and it has been in Omaha for over 100 years. How many businesses can say that? We have survived not only the Great Recession, but the Great Depression and two world wars. And people from all over the country still come to us to commemorate their happy occasions. They may be new customers, or have a family legacy with us, but they are all passionate about the service, selection and great value that Borsheims’ provides. What inspires you?
The fact I work in a happy atmosphere inspires me. I have a friend who works in banking who was lamenting that banking used to be a happy industry, i.e., people came to a bank to get loans for new businesses, new homes, new cars—all exciting ventures. But now working in banking is bad news and it is often restructuring loans or negotiating with customers who are having financial difficulties. My friend was explaining how depressing that atmosphere created for his company. I’m blessed to work at a company that is surrounded by celebrations. Whether it is a couple shopping for an engagement ring, or an anniversary present, or a gift for a new mom, or a retirement celebration; these are all the milestones in our life worth acknowledging. That is what inspires me every day to share Borsheims’ story and unique position within the jewelry industry. What is your favorite love story?
I was an English major so it is hard to name just one! There are some many great love stories; Catherine and Heathcliff, Yuri and Lara, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, Scarlett and Rhett. If I had to pick just one, it would be Daisy and Gatsby. Daisy is such an unlikeable character but Gatsby’s devotion to her and the lengths he goes to in order to get her attention is what makes it such a great love story. What are you looking forward to most about The Lovestruck Event?
I’m looking forward seeing a bridal event reimagined and reconfigured! The Lovestruck Event Lookbook: Teaser Video 2
